The princes and presidents couldn’t contain the jealousy they had for Daniel. He had an excellent spirit in him that markedly distinguished him from all of them. No sooner had he been appointed a presidential role over a province than Darius considered setting him as a ruler over the whole realm because of how exceptional he was.
They must have mused, “Was Daniel not a stranger? How can he, one of their captives, displace them from the topmost rank of eminence among the class of elites?”
It was as if the insidious onset of the fire of jealousy in them was escalated to a wildfire by Darius’ decision. Darius must not actualize his thoughts right before their eyes. They would not stand Daniel’s reign over them so they tried plotting a scheme against Daniel, but there was an obstacle; Daniel was perfect. No flaws. No misconduct. There was no skeleton in Daniel’s cupboard so they decided to find one for him.If only they knew that they plotted their own doom, they would have absconded but Jealousy was such a thick blindfold!
They connived to have the King sign a law that was meant as a trap for Daniel. But guess what? Daniel, in his faithfulness walked into that trap. He was caught, yet uncaught. His detractors must have celebrated his end in the lion’s den the night their plot was successfully executed. Unknown to them, it was their last celebration.
The den wasn’t the end for Daniel
Although Daniel was thrown into the den for refusal to cower to their law, God was using the situation to magnify his name. Right there in the Den was another world for Daniel. He had read enough to know how Lions menacingly approach their prey. He was a potential prey to those hungry lions but their approach towards him was the opposite. They were muted. The lions couldn’t harm him because the Greater Lion resided in him. Their mouths were shut and right in the den, God turned predators to pets for Daniel because he was faithful.
The den wasn’t the end for Daniel, rather it was the end for his enemies. The lions feasted on them after they had feasted in jubilation of Daniel’s demise.
Dear Christian, are you currently on the verge of getting into a situationship you are helpless about? Just like Daniel who couldn’t do anything about the irrevocable law of the Midian and Persian? And you are wondering whether that would be your end?
God is calling us to remain faithful like Daniel, in whatever condition that threatens our faith. He wants us to know that he specializes in turning the schemes of our enemies into a miracle that greatly glorifies his name.
If Daniel had compromised because he feared the lion’s den, it could have been his end.
It wasn’t up to the stipulated 30 days for the execution of the Midian and Persian law, when Darius commanded everyone to serve the only true God of Daniel. This further enlightens us on how God can break through rigid protocols to honour his name in our lives when we remain faithful. If Daniel had compromised because he feared the lion’s den, it could have been his end. However, he chose to trust God and the once perplexing situation was turned into a peaceful and victorious one.It is high time we began to look forward to what God has in store for us in any “den” like condition.
No matter what the den represents in our lives, they don’t determine our end. God knows how to keep us safe in his own way if we remain faithful like Daniel.
God bless you.
